Performer is Kobzos Kiss Tamás, as for the song, not a lot of information. This song is contained in an 1864 book that collected 15-18th century military songs. I'd wager that this specific song is probably 15-16th century given its nature.

Hungarian is a beautiful language, these "lyrics" are a little old-fashioned though, since the song was written a couple hundred years ago, but they sound amazing even to my native hungarian ears! :)

@@jazzitall Its may an urban legend, because most of our today words, are highly slavic influenced, also with german. I dont say that we dont have 'ancient'words, but the numbers are way too low than 70% :)

I think people should study the two versions simultainiously, bc we might use different words by translate, but the meaning of the lyric is quite the same. Its old hungarian so i don't think there is an existing english translation. Written by Balassi Bálint, a hungarian soldier and poet from the XVIth century, died in the siege of Esztergom in 1594, in the ottoman hungarian wars. The poem is about the loving of God and to fight the enemies of christianity...in short.
